REVIEW:
The Aylesbury was a lovely lunch or dinner place but the spacious table layout, and complicated dishes, made it difficult turn-over enough diners. So BOMBA replaces it - same owners, same team, just a more relaxed configuration with bar height seating down the length of the room and a buzzier vibe to eat and drink. The menu is described by owners as "Spanish workers' caff", matched with soft lighting and a lift in volume (music and therefore clientele), resulting in a fun, fine food place to drink or dine. And dining can be a series of tapas or larger dishes to share, all full of Spanish sunshine.
WINE: Smart, Australian-Iberian selection at either $40 or $60 with a good range by the glass. Variteies may be unusual but the wines are good selections. If drinking is the major option catch the lift to the charming rooftop bar (after 3pm) five floors above, and admire Melbourne's cityscape.
