Capriccio Osteria & Bar is the creation of third generation restaurateurs Matteo Galletto and Michele Rispoli, and it's a very modern take on a trattoria italiana - all pale yellows and blues and a modernized Italian menu of snacks to serious dishes.
they've also created a sassy "Capriccio Hour" serving $5 Peronni's, $6 Aperol spritzers and $15 carafe's of house Italian wine - along with our bar snacks between 5 and 6.30pm.

Capriccio has a few meanings. We find the most appropriate to be ýwhimsicalý and ýfantasticalý.

Matteo Galletto and business partner Michele Rispoli, both third generation restaurateurs (and ex Lucioýs, Paddington), bring to Leichhardt casual, modern Italian food at its best, courtesy of their vision and the skills of head chef Bryan Gerlini (ex A Tavola).

The newly renovated space now features a bright welcoming bar area with high tables and comfortable stools. The open plan kitchen leads to the sunny garden courtyard with a retractable canvas roof and gas heaters for chilly nights. The upstairs dining room has flexible table seating for small or large groups and private parties. Outdoor seating on Norton Street is imminent.

About the food - Fun, innovative and always Italian. The centrepiece wood fire oven produces what we believe to be the only wood fired panini baked to order in Sydney (3 minutes). Made with a low yeast plain-spelt flour dough, left to rise for over 48 hours, the result is unique, light and full of flavour. Take away is available. The wood oven also gets a great workout on bar snacks, focaccias, vegetables, porchetta and seafood. Dishes are constantly changing according to the best available local, seasonal produce.A selection of classic pastas are also on the menu such as cacio e pepe, passatelli and spaghetti aglio e olio. Desserts are of the more-ish variety. The menu is designed for sharing or just as enjoyable for one.

About the bar. House Wine. Capriccio has imported two custom made refrigerated wine barrels, dispensing bespoke blends of both white and red wines produced by Cantina della Vernaccia in Oristano, Sardegna. Served by the glass or in half litre or litre carafes. Bottled wines. For this list Matteo has focused on obscure yet approachable Italian wines, taking advantage of the wide array of Italian grape varieties. Spirits. Capriccio is fully licensed with a great selection of spritzers, aperitivi, spirits, grappas and digestivi on offer & of course, Limoncello from the Amalfi coast.

The crockery. Colourful ceramics imported exclusively for Capriccio from Vietri sul Mare, the home of ceramics on the Amalfi coast serve as plates, platters, wine jugs and shot glasses.
