REVIEW:
Predominantly a local producers' market with some of the finer produce of the local area both boutique and professional scale. |
Macquarie Valley Food & Wine is now holding
Bimonthly Farmers' Markets
Two each month - the Farmers' Market - the place which offers locally grown, freshly dug, yesterday picked, hand harvested, vine and tree ripened produce and baked and hand made products which are preservative free.
Demand from both customers and stallholders for more, made the decision easy for Macquarie Valley Food & Wine Inc to hold two Farmers' Markets each month. The Farmers' Market will be held between 8am and 12noon on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month on the lawn at the Dubbo Visitors Centre starting from Saturday 4 February, 2006.
Farmers' Market customers will now be provided with the opportunity to shop for local healthier fresh and valued added products every two weeks and producers of fresh produce will be able to sell ready produce more frequently.
The Macquarie Valley Food & Wine Farmers' Market is an authentic FarmersĂ˝ Market where primary producers and value adders from the region come and sell fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, shrubs, live chickens and a range of value added products which have been grown or made my the producer themselves.
Farmers' Markets are niche market places offering opportunities for smaller businesses to develop and consumers to speak directly with producers to learn more about certain produce and products, ultimately providing a fun food shopping experience. Fruit and vegetables sold at the Farmers' Markets are seasonal, fresh and therefore jam packed with nutrients and taste. Because of the seasonality of the produce you are always certain to find something new each month.
Wines from the Macquarie Valley will feature on a regular basis this year. Customers can observe and taste chefs master creations from local produce from the stalls and baskets stacked full of produce from the stalls will be available for lucky shoppers each market day. The Farmers' Market is also a great place to enjoy excellent coffee and a delicious breakfast or lunch while catching up with family and friends.
Water melons, rockmelons, nectarines, plums, fresh berries, butternut pumpkins and vine ripened tomatoes will be available this February along with locally grown nuts, honey, virgin olive oils, lime products, live chickens, sourdough and gingerbreads, hams and bacons and freshly cut flowers.
All existing stallholders are welcome to attend the bimonthly Farmers' Market and any interested producers or value adders should contact Macquarie Valley and Wine Inc. on 6885 4300.
