2006 Allandale Winery - Chardonnay

Country of origin: Australia
Area/Appellation: Hunter
Variety/Style: Chardonnay
Cellaring: Drink now
Supplier Agent: Allandale
Availability: Readily
Price Range: $19.00

Tasting Note:
Chardonnay is a strange variety in the Hunter. On the one hand it produces outstanding wines like Vat 47, but more often is a little broad of beam and not on my dance card. This 2006 from Allandale - their 22nd vintage - has lovely fig and nectarine fruit with a subtle touch of nutty spice. The palate has soft fruit and fresh acidity making it attractive to drink and great with medium weight white meat dishes.

June 2007
